As a result of my abroad experience, I was tasked with exploring research capacities and collaboration opportunities between NIAID and Bolivia. This involved researching prevalent infectious diseases in Bolivia, prominent researchers in the field of infectious diseases, ongoing NIAID-funded grant awards, potential grant awards for future research, as well as interviewing both US- and Bolivia-based researchers.
